SKM Art Advising is proud to be mounting a series of curated exhibitions at The Gallery at Paris in a Bite in the Westlake neighborhood of Austin, Texas. Our intention with this series is to create a space of dialogue and to showcase work that we believe in.
The work shown in this exhibition was created by Goode while on residency in Orquevaux, France in 2018. This work, which is comprised of large-scale oil on canvas pieces, and smaller oil on paper pieces, is inspired by the elusive nature of the horizon, and the nature of memory. In this series, Goode strives to capture the feeling of the unknown of what is just beyond the horizon line, or perhaps just coming into view. In the tradition of Hopper and Wyeth, this series is completely absorbing and draws you into a different, somewhat unsettling world. This is the first time this work has been exhibited.
Goode received his BFA from The University of Texas at Austin, and his MFA from Texas State University. Goode’s work has been included in the HBO series, The Leftovers, displayed at the Austin–Bergstrom International Airport, the Austin Public Library, and has been acquired by the Art Institute of Chicago’s special collections library and Seton Hospital’s permanent collection, as well as many private collections. He currently lives and works in Austin, Texas.
This exhibition will run from October 30- January 6. An opening reception will be held on Tuesday November 5 from 5:30- 8:00, the artist will be in attendance. Paris in a Bite is located at 3801 N Capital of TX Hwy, Suite D-180.
